JoomlaPro has built a new website for the Oslo region's EU office. The Oslo region is a member organization that consists of a number of municipalities and universities around Oslo, the region is Norway's largest in terms of population.
The European Office works to connect the Oslo region with Europe and create opportunities for innovation and regional development. The website therefore has many different functions such as presenting member municipalities and writing news as well as collecting events and activities.
Their previous website, like so many other wordpress sites, had contracted the plugin disease by installing numerous extensions over the years to increase its functionality. Outdated extensions had in turn become a security risk and new security plugins had been installed.
To remedy this, we wanted to use as few extensions as possible on the new page. We started by creating a customized news feed and event calendar by using only Joomla's standard articles extended with Joomla's custom fields. Together with YoothemesPro and its dynamic content, we could then build which layouts we want and then map articles.
The site is also bilingual but has a slimmed down version in English. The site is a good example of what you can achieve with only Joomla and Yootheme without having to install dozens of plugins to get a good website together.
